The seminar explores writing and publication as spaces of academic communication and dialogue, and presents strategies and tools for writing, submitting and publishing successfully.
A general overview of academic publication will be presented, so as to guide the participants to feasible and potentially successful strategies for writing and publishing their research results. Current criteria in academic publishing will be discussed, with an eye to help each author develop their abilities in accordance with their discipline and thematic interest. Furthermore, the main criteria for relevance in academic publishing, on local, regional and international levels, will be presented.
Eloísa Martín is the first Latin American editor of Current Sociology, the journal of the International Sociological Association. For more than ten years, she was editor of Ciencias Sociales y Religión/ Ciências Sociais e Religião, the journal of the Asociación de Cientistas Sociales de la Religión en el Mercosur. She was associated editor of Sociedade e Estado (Universidade de Brasilia, Brazil, 2008 – 2010), member of the editorial committee of Etnografías Contemporáneas (Universidad de San Martín, Buenos Aires, 2004 – 2009) and editor of the Estudios sobre Religión, newsletter of the Asociación de Cientistas Sociales de la Religión en el Mercosur (Argentina, 1998 – 2005). She is also member of the editorial committees of various journals in Latin America and Australia, and a consultant for editorial projects in the USA. Martín is also an experienced translator and has since 2009 given numerous courses on academic writing and publication in Argentina, Germany, Brazil, Spain, Japan, Italy, Lebanon and Mexico.
